I haven't flown yet on the Saab 2000 myself, only its predecessor, the SF-340, but I happen to know a bit about what's supposed to be behind the noise control system.
Crossair lost a Saab 340 in January 2000, an RJ100 in October 2001 and Swiss/Crossair a non-fatal Saab 2000 in July 2002.
I've found Saab 2000 very nice and just a bit less noisy than ATR although I must say I was expecting more difference.

While Saab has enhanced the suspension to a point, it still falls short of offering the handling characteristics expected from a vehicle with this much power and at the $40K price point.
