Saatchi and Saatchi is an advertising agency founded by brothers Maurice (now Lord Saatchi) and art collector Charles, most famous for their campaign on behalf of the Conservative Party before the 1979 UK general election and for the adverts for British Airways and other state-owned interests privatised by the Conservatives in the 1980s.
Saatchi and Saatchi's holding company is Publicis in 2001.
Saatchi and Saatchi entered a new phase in 1997 when it officially dropped "advertising" from the name.

Although the Saatchi brothers would rarely publicly admit it, the fundamental global nature and form of Saatchi and Saatchi was defined by the influence of Compton Advertising, the U.S. advertising agency that was finally bought by Saatchi and Saatchi in 1982.
When Compton was taken over by Saatchi, they were the longest serving agency on the PandG roster, being first appointed in 1922 (when the agency was known as Blackman Co.) Saatchi and Saatchi later bought Dancer Fitzgerald Sampler who has almost as long a history being first retained in 1933.
Saatchi's international network was effectively established in 1982 with the acquisition of the US company Garland Compton.

Saatchi admits he is shy and rarely gives interviews and makes few public appearances (though he awarded the Turner Prize one year), not even attending the openings of his own exhibitions that are usually glamorous events.
