Sabine Dardenne (born October 28, 1983) is a Belgian woman who, at the age of twelve, on May 28, 1996, was kidnapped by the infamous Marc Dutroux whilst returning from school.
Dardenne and fourteen-year-old Laetitia Delhez who had been abducted a couple of days earlier were rescued on August 15, 1996 by the Belgian police, two days after Dutroux had been arrested.
Dardenne and Delhez both testified against Dutroux during his 2004 trial, and their testimony played an important role in the conviction of Dutroux.

Dutroux, the 39-year-old father of three, was being held Monday by police in connection with the deaths of two young girls and the abductions of at least four others, as well as the death of an accomplice.
Dutroux was arrested after police rescued 12-year-old Sabine Dardenne, kidnapped on May 28, and 14-year-old Laetitia Delhez, kidnapped on August 9, from a soundproof dungeon hidden in Dutroux's home.
The two girls were luckier than a pair of 8-year-olds whose bodies were dug up Saturday from a grave in Dutroux's backyard.

Interesting review of what happened to Sabine after she was kidnapped whilst cycling to school.
