Metal Millennium Album Reviews | Sacred Reich | Heal
Sacred Reich hit the thrash scene in 1987 and had their fair share of great, hard-hitting albums.
This album, however, sounds like Sacred Reich are jamming out together and having a good time.
Phil's vocals aren't as powerful as on the early albums, but the drumming is pretty nice: many double-bass kicks spread through out, and the thrash assualt is unleashed like the Sacred Reich of old.

Unfortunately, I discovered Sacred Reich late in their career, about the time that "Independent" was released in 1995.
Sacred Reich play music in the Motorhead mode: Fast, furious, hard as hell and with a fiery, undeniable charisma.
Sacred Reich never strayed away from controversy, and there's political and other types of commentary here aplenty.

Sacred Reich always did play a somewhat appealing mix of meaty almost-thrash metal that could often entertain me if I was in the right mood.
I don't know how Sacred Reich ever got to be called "legendary" in some circles, but they were a GOOD band in their time.
Sacred Reich are completely underappreciated and overlooked, but they were one of the elite thrash / metal bands of the 80's and 90's.

There were three bands on the bill: A local group, the Galactic Cowboys, and Sacred Reich.
The strangeness of the pairing was explained by a sound guy as an inadvertent double-booking by the club owner; the bands share the same record label so that may have created the confusion.
Then there were Reich's "Rock for Pot" shirts bearing U.S. flags with pot leaves in place of the stars.

It's been a while since we've heard from Sacred Reich, but with the release of "Heal" they continue their existence with music of a slightly higher quality than before.
Far from jumping on the "angry hate-the-world" bandwagon, Sacred Reich's lyrics are typically about the world from the view of an individual.
Instead of trying something different in attempts to produce a mindblowing album, Sacred Reich sticks to the same style and manages to deliver a very good metal album.

I mean, they didn't have the technical prowess of say Believer, the speed of Dark Angel, the image of Slayer, or even the intensity of Nuclear Assault, but they had cool riffs and usually something intelligent to say.
Sacred Reich were never an overly technical band, but they were tight and had a great groove.
Add to that the intensity brought on by a live performance and a wall of sound mix, and you have yourself one fine testament to this band's legacy.

Sacred Reich had a varied career, releasing good albums and gaining a fair cult following but not achieving the major success many feel they deserve.
Their first few releases featured a faster, hardcore-tinged thrash sound, while American Way and the later releases were a more controlled (but still aggressive) form of thrash.
On and off through much of the nineties, they reunited in 1997 long enough to record their Still Ignorant live album, and then were quiet again, until their announced split in March of 2000.

When Sacred Reich recorded Ignorance for the independent Metal Blade label in 1987, the band hadn't yet achieved the type of excellence that characterized The American Way.
Nonetheless, Reich had a lot going for it and showed some promise lyrically as well as musically.
Invigorating as well as disturbing, this bombastic album indicated that Reich could amount to something special if given a chance to develop.

Sacred Reich : Heal - Listen, Review and Buy at ARTISTdirect
By the time Phoenix thrash band Sacred Reich released Heal in 1996, the excitement that surrounded their particular brand of hard-edged metal had indeed dissipated, as bands like Korn and Deftones began moving mainstream metal in a new direction.
After spending over a decade churning out some of the metal underground's most furious music, the group wasn't about to change their style or concede anything to the new-metal '90s, however, and Heal became their last great studio tribute to an important (if almost forgotten) era of aggressive music.
