  Britain.tv Wikipedia - Sadcore
Sadcore is a loose definition and does not describe a specific movement or scene.
The term “sadcore” is a soft parody of the limiting scene or genre labels common in alternative rock such as hardcore and is sometimes used interchangeably with slowcore.
Earlier acts such as Red House Painters, and American Music Club drew on the nihilism, loneliness and isolation found in the lyrics of The Cure and The Smiths, and this is a commonly identified thematic characteristic.

Sadcore - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Sadcore/Slowcore is a subgenre of alternative rock that developed from the downbeat melodies and slower tempos of late 1980s indie rock.
Many artists that have acquired the tag might better be classified as alternative country or as singer/songwriters.
In an interview, Low rejected the label as "cheesy".

Primarily an extension of alternative/independent rock, Sadcore is slow, fragile and gut-wrenching music made by and for the depressed.
Themes of heartbreak, loss, and misery dominate the lyrics, and the music itself is resolutely downbeat -- the acoustic guitars that once defined '70s-era singer/songwriters certainly resurface here, but much of the music is far more dissonant and intense, conjuring much darker atmospheres and textures.
Sadcore bands like American Music Club and Red House Painters channel their pain and suffering into music that is hauntingly beautiful -- the perfect soundtrack for solitary late-night listening.

Faith and Disease have a ton of albums to their name as it turns out and from what I understand, this is a major shift musically for the partnership of Dara Rosenwasser and Eric Cooley.
Sadcore is what FAITH & DISEASE call their music and personally I think it's actually a good description.
SADCORE POETRY: Faith & Disease tried to shake the "gothic" label a couple of years ago by releasing Beneath The Trees, a heady confluence of neo-classical and folk rock, but their ethereal goth-loving fans embraced the diverse album just the same.

 Ink 19 :: Unbunny
Smith's sturdy acoustic strum and Lytle and Co.'s wandering electronics are pushed to the front of every track on this disc.
The band, unfortunately, isn't more than the sum of its archetypal forefathers, but they're sure to please those fans searching for admirable derivations of their favorite sadcore artists.
For the rest of us, Unbunny's downfall is songwriter Jarid del Deo's tendency to write a couple good songs, then churn out two exact copycats with the same rhythm patterns or vocal melody.

The tag that has generally been thrown at Calla is ‘sadcore’ or 'slowcore', mainly because of the extreme amount of gloom and darkness that makes Calla's music so appealing.
Though I understand the idea that Calla does play a somewhat slowed down, sad brand of indie rock, I just can't seem to make the connection.
It's debatable whether or not this is Calla's strongest album, but if nay, it's pretty damn close.

Not so funny how things work out sometimes, how "sadcore" becomes an itchy-kinda-accurate bin label and how the avatars of a new movement (in the town where it allegedly all started) get no play.

Originally a solo project of frontman Keith Krate, Bunkbed's debut is a full-band affair with additions of bass, drums, cello, and keyboards, resulting in a nice mix of sadcore and stark indie pop.
As Keith laments "Never again will I trust you with my heart" on "The Blunders" over a modest whir of keyboards and guitars, the pace is set for an album whose depressed focus never grows as weary as its author's intent.

Their music is dark and fragile, often heartbreakingly mournful.
There's a certain amount of narcissism here -- it's inherent to the genre -- but Tram avoids the common pitfalls of so-called "sadcore" by maintaining a light touch, keeping the melancholy to a minimum, and letting the music do the talking.
And the music is exquisitely beautiful, thanks to its lush, subtle orchestration, which is dominated by tentative acoustic guitars and plaintive cello and violin.

A string section, and little other instrumentation outside piano, lends “Honeyslide” a bit of sophistication, though the watertight vocal harmonies and lack of drums reveals Ida’s folkie side.
“599,” one of the most lush selections on the album, slightly leans toward sadcore, with a watery, distorted guitar fleshing out its sound.
Where many bands waste their energy chasing fickle trends or subconsciously regurgitating their peers’ ideas, Ida sticks to the tried-and-true: Moving, soulful vocals and simple, yet effective ear candy.

hybridmagazine.com :: indie counter-culture daily, no secret handshakes.
To give it that all-important alternative "edge," and to avoid seeming like sissies, we have to call it "sadcore," or "slowcore." Some of the best contemporary folk music made by some of today's most talented singer/songwriters is being lumped into this flimsily titled category, as if "folk" or "singer/songwriter" were heresy in the indie temple.
Fortunately, Dashboard Confessional's Christopher Ender Carrabba, erstwhile frontman of the Florida emocore band, Further Seems Forever, doesn't seem to care that much about labels.
Slap the label "sadcore" on The Places You Have Come to Fear the Most, a collection of ten insightful, tuneful, and emotional pieces, and Dashboard Confessional's latest release on Santa Monica's Vagrant Records.

On her new album, You Are Free, Marshall — frustrated with her imposed image as the queen of sadcore — makes a semipoppy attempt at the blatantly upbeat, and, something like a flower opening up, the music reveals itself as most likely never having been a bummer at all.

Bright Eyes/Neva Dinova - One Jug of Wine, Two Vessels
More a collaboration than a split release, with the two bands condensing their rosters into one amazingly tight-sounding amalgam bridging both Bright Eyes’ rousing folk-dramatic style and Neva Dinova’s somnambulistic sadcore, One Jug of Wine, Two Vessels is a more than appropriate title, as both groups are clearly drinking from the same creative vintage.
Sighing with resignation and defeat, the opening “Tripped” melts pedal steel and fluttering keyboards into a beautifully dejected sonic stew.
