Judaism teaches that the true transmitters of the Torah from Moses at Sinai were the Pharisees, and, indeed, Judaism throughout the last two millenia is based on the Pharasaic teachers of the Talmud, believers and upholders of the written and oral Torah.
The Sadduccees were of the high priestly family -- they were the "aristocrats." They had an evil alliance with Rome, and they purchased their "high priesthoods" from Rome, in opposition to Torah Law which decrees that the high priesthood is given to one person until his death.
In order to hone in on the status of the Christian Jews among all other Jews of their time, it is important to know their enemies and their friends, and the bases upon which one identified as either an enemy or a friend.

Whether the Sadduccees had their own methodology of interpretation or were "strict literalists" is subject to scholarly debate - what is clear is that they rejected the Torah sheBa'al Peh and the authority of the Hakh'mei haM'sorah.
It is possible that the Sadduccees exercised significant control over the operation of the Beit haMikdash for a lengthy period during the first century BCE into the millenium (cf., inter alia, Mishnah Yoma 1:5), such that their interpretation regarding matters of offerings would have a profound and broad impact on national religious celebrations.

Due to the geographical distribution and the geopolitical entities affected by the Enlightenment, this philosophical revolution essentially affected only the Ashkenazi community; however, because of the predominance of the Ashkenazi community in Israeli politics and in Jewish leadership worldwide, the effects have been significant for all Jews.
Perhaps the greatest dogmatic divisions since the time of the division between the Sadduccees and Pharisees two millennia ago, are the divisions within the Ashkenazic community that have arisen in the past two centuries, ever since the Enlightenment and the Renaissance began to penetrate the boundaries of northern and eastern European Jewish communities.
The first evidence of this great dogmatic schism was the development of the "Reform" movement, which sought to reject everything it considered "ethnic" about Judaism, preferring to regard Judaism as a religious alternative to Christianity, without any of the cultural or ethnic trappings that had been traditionally associated with Jewish observance.

The historical Jewish movements (Pharisses, Sadduccees, and Essenes) were responses to the Roman rule of Israel, while the major modern movements (Reform, Orthodox, and Conservative) are responses to the modern, secular culture of Europe and America.
Thus, while Christian denominations differ chiefly in matters of doctrine, Jewish denominations differ from one another primarily with regard to practice.
