Rainlore's World of Music - Artists: Daphna Sadeh
Sadeh is a composer and double bass player gifted with unusual depth and imagination as well as outstanding musicianship and seemingly boundless energy and enthusiasm.
Sadeh might not seem a likely player of that most unwieldy of instruments, the double bass, but that should not fool anybody for she is undoubtably one of the most outstanding masters of this instrument of her generation.
Her compositions are often possessed of a haunting beauty, never lacking in musical wit, always sparkling with an unstoppable flow of fresh ideas, sometimes surprising the listener with an undefinable touch of deja-vu, and always speaking straight from and to the heart.

Sadeh Celebration, which is observed on January 30 each year, marks the end of winter and the onset of a new season with lots of rain bringing in prosperity for the people.
Biruni noted that the main reason for naming 'Sadeh' is that if the days and nights of a year are counted separately, the mean figure obtained at the end of the year will be 100.
Rouhol-Amini asserted that Sadeh does not belong to a particular religion and that it should be celebrated like Norouz (on March 20 marking beginning of new Iranian year) and the autumn festivity Mehregan.

Sadeh is also known to be a Zoroastrian celebration of fire and driving the cold winter away with the new light and warmth of spring and summer.
Today, this special event of Sadeh seems to have no religious significance for the majority of Iranians and no specific rituals are involved other than torching bonfire at sunset and having a good time and therefore keeping up with the ancient traditions when much fun used to be practiced.
