  Sadus
California's Sadus ripped the Thrash scene a new asshole back in 1988 with their self-released frenzy 'Illusions', (also later released via Roadrunner) being technical and bluntly single minded all in one.
After the all out war of 'Ilusions' had bamboozled the mind with its precision pistol whipping, it came as a shock to discover that Sadus were committed stoners.
From mellowing out, these four lunatics seemed to tune-in to their respective abilities still further when ridin' high.........and maybe the relaxed vibe they enjoyed made them so distinctive, so out there, so incessentantly fast and to this day, so prime an example of Thrash Metal's ability to vocalise knife-edge aggressive perfection.

 SADUS | Rockdetector
SADUS came together as a quartet in 1984 of vocalist Darren Travis, guitarist Rob Moore, bassist Steve DiGeorgio and drummer Jon Allen, although it was to be two years until the first fruits of this liaison came into being with the 1986 'D.T.P.' ('Death To Posers') demotape.
Quick to capitalise on this achievement SADUS stuck their hands in their pockets to self finance the debut album pulling in METAL CHURCH guitarist John Marshall as producer.
SADUS was put on ice for 1991 as DiGeorgio opted to assist DEATH for their 'Human' album.

Get Ready to ROCK! Review of CD album by metal rock band Sadus called Out For Blood
It was ten years ago, when the American Thrash/Death metal war machine Sadus released their fourth opus "Elements of Anger", and nothing has been heard from then ever since.
Sadus have brought to life a slow and rhythmical composition that is no less heavy than any of the songs that they have recorded in the past, and together with the oriental guitar and bass scales of "Smackdown" make up some of the most unusual songs that this band has ever recorded.
What I suggest you do is get your hands on this brilliant album and then you will realise how right I was, and also why it took this trio so long to record a new album.

Apparently this is Sadus at their best, and I am not suitably impressed.
Death metal has begun its reign of terror, and more is expected of Sadus, who are on to their third album.
Sadus do not deliver the goods, though: lack of variation still plagues them, and despite adding touches of _Human_ era Death, these tracks could be from the same album.

Sadus are back too - add another to the returnees list - as a trio again, with Steve Di Giorgio and his famous bass sound, Darren Travis and Jon Allen.
Once again a back-to-the-roots, aggressive thrash metal album is promised and the album’s title is obviously intentionally chosen to reflect that.

Sadus : Chemical Exposure - Listen, Review and Buy at ARTISTdirect
Although it is often mistaken to be Sadus' second album, 1991's Chemical Exposure is actually their first, having been released independently by the band back in 1988 (under the title of Illusions) -- before their association with Roadrunner led to its renaming and reissue three years later.
Yet, in retrospect, the album stood balanced on a knife's edge between the already fading (though few were aware of it) thrash scene and the death metal movement about to replace it.
But the young Sadus players' already awesome technical abilities clearly belonged with the next generation of post-thrash deathsters, and their jaw-dropping displays on additional offerings like "Torture," "Illusions," and the title cut boasted a slew of escalating songwriting and performance complexities that were quite beyond the earlier Bay Area scene's limits.

Formed in 1984 to play a high school gig (which never happened because they all managed to get expelled!), Sadus (name derived from Frank Herbert's Dune series) worked their way through the hot, Califried hotbed of their small hometown, competing with the likes of Autopsy, Hexx, Death Angel, and, of course, Death.
Respected players all, Sadus have not forsaken the youthful brutality that prompted their deafening formation as shiftless high school kids fourteen long years ago.

Finally, after about 4 years, Sadus return as a trio and put out what I consider to be their finest work yet.
Retaining the icy presicion and musical chops that they are known for, Elements of Anger also incorporates quite a bit of added "effects" to produce a real atmospheric album.

In 1997, Sadus reunited to record a new album for new label Mascot Records, but by this time, Moore had left the group.
By 2000, it appeared as though Sadus was put on hold yet again, as the rhythm section of DiGiorgio and Allen accepted an invitation to join Testament.

Sadus have, throughout their career, been a band who have remained on the fringes of the thrash/death metal genre.
Instead, the sound is similar to Sadus' other releases, with flat sounding drums, crunchy, rather than rich, guitar tones and a good, clean bass sound topped off by raspy vocals.
As songwriting goes, Sadus have altered the formula set down on previous releases to some extent by including instrumental work which attempts to create atmosphere and has some success in doing so.
