Last year (ended March 20, 2004), Iran’s average economic growth registered a 5.5 percent increase, the minister said, adding that it is estimated to reach to eight percent of economic growth in the Fourth Development Plan (next year).
Fars News Agency quoted Hosseini as saying inflation rate in the Second Socioeconomic and Cultural Development Plan (1995-2000) averaged 25.1 percent while the figure for the Third Development Plan (2000-2005) has so far been 13.8 percent.
Hosseini put the non-oil exports volume in the second Plan - regardless of suitcase and boarder market exports - at -7 percent, noting that in the Third Plan, the country has recorded a 13.6 percent increase, reaching to $18 billion.

The Majlis bill will prevent the government from implementing such measures as social welfare programs, insurance for the poorer segment of the society and agricultural-related subsidies which had been the provision outlined in the fourth five-year development plan, the economy and finance minister added.
Hosseini said the bill is likely to skew economic fundamentals.

Tehran, Feb 26, IRNA -- Minister of Economic Affairs and Finance Safdar Hosseini in a meeting with the Head of Russian Federal Atomic Energy Agency Alexander Rumyantsev here on Saturday said that Iran expects Russia to defend Iran`s legitimate right to produce its required atomic energy domestically.
A report released by the Public Relations Department of the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Finance quoted Hosseini as saying that he reiterated the need to expand cooperation between the two countries, particularly in the nuclear field.
Hosseini hoped that the agreement on the spent nuclear fuel of Bushehr Nuclear Power Station will be finalized and inked during Rumyantsev`s current visit.
