The committee decided to amend the legislation to state that instead of regular reviews of the director, it would be a review of the BOSS Program and it's services at least twice a year with the intent to provide input to the coordinator's evaluation and to provide evaluation of the program's goals.

VANCOUVER (CP) - The former safety director of B.C. Ferries who resigned after the sinking of the Queen of the North is suing the corporation, saying Ferries failed to heed his warnings of a possible catastrophic incident without fleet-wide safety improvements.
He also claims that although Ferries told him safety was a high priority, the corporation prevented him from conducting an inquiry into the sinking of the Queen of the North on March 22.
The writ's claims by Bowland are directed at safety conditions among the fleet generally and not specifically at the Queen of the North.

The Canada Safety Council's argument on conditional sentences is so full of holes, it's hard to know where to start.
If you bought into the safety council's philosophy that house arrests are more effective than jail time for violent offences such as impaired driving causing death, then you would have to conclude that closed custody should seldom, if ever, be used.
