Sagamihara (Japanese: 相模原市; -shi) is a city located in Kanagawa, Japan.
As of 2003, the city has an estimated population of 620,086 and the density of 6,858.60 persons per km².
The main areas of commercial activity in Sagamihara are located around the train stations JR Sagamihara and JR Hashimoto on the JR Yokohama line, and Odakyu Sagami-Ōno on the Odakyu Odawara line.

City councils in Sagamihara and Zama, two adjoining cities with a combined population of 750,000 people, recently passed resolutions strongly opposing putting more troops in Camp Zama, the headquarters of the U.S. Army in Japan.

SAGAMIHARA, Kanagawa -- A man who left his dead brother's body in their home to rot while he chose to live out of his car has been arrested, police said.
Keisuke Yumiba, 27, a part-timer of no fixed address, was arrested for illegal disposal of the body of his 29-year-old brother, Kenichi.
Police said the Yumiba siblings had shared a home in Sagamihara and that they had been searching for the younger brother for some time after residents of the housing estate where their apartment was located had complained of a vile smell and an inspection uncovered Kenichi Yumiba's corpse.

CAMP ZAMA, Japan — About 30 civilian families at Camp Zama and its Sagamihara Family Housing area may have to move off post as part of a plan to demolish old housing and replace it with new units.
The project involves demolishing 115 multiplex housing units — 52 of them along the edge of the housing area at Sagamihara, and 63 in the Chapel Hill area of Camp Zama.
Demolition is to start Sept. 1 at Sagamihara and Nov. 1 at Camp Zama.

According to a memorandum issued early this fall by the Office of the Undersecretary of Defense, the commissaries at Sagamihara Housing Area, Sagami General Depot and Camp Kure are to be closed in 2004.
In the case of Sagamihara and Sagami Depot, respectively located two and four miles from Camp Zama, there are too few active-duty military personnel to warrant commissaries.
The Sagamihara store not only sells groceries, it serves as the central meat and produce processing center for Army commissaries, he said.

A week after a moderate earthquake rocked and rolled the Kanto Plain, pupils at Arnn Elementary School at Sagamihara Housing Area near Tokyo will be able to recreate the experience Wednesday as part of an Earthquake Awareness program at the school.
The daylong event will feature an earthquake truck and smokehouse brought in by the Sagamihara City Fire Department that allows children to safely experience earthquakes and house fires.
In addition to Sagamihara’s simulators, Camp Zama’s Fire Department will bring fire trucks for display and the Safety Office will provide safety information.
