  The port of Sagiada
Sagiada is the port area and fishing village of the town of Filiates, a picturesque small city located towards the northern area of Greece.
Sagiada is very interesting from the point of view of history due to the fact that it is a very antique fishing town which has gone through an important amount of different historical events and époques.
Sagiada, and the rest of Filiates, count with an important amount of antique constructions which turn it into a very attractive destination for all those tourists who are fond of disciplines such as architecture, history and design among many others.

 THESPROTIA
In the past Philiates was one of the most important commercial centers of the area I since it was located above the road which led from the port of Sagiada to loannina.
Visitors may tour the Monastery of the Virgin Geromeriou dating from the 13th century, the Monastery ofKamitsanis built in 1613 and decorated with remarkable wall paintings, the Folklore Museum of Tsamanda.
Also noteworthy is the village of Keramitsa which has been awarded 40 first class distinctions by the HABITAT II Conference as a model for development, environmental protection, and for the quality of life which the residents have.

The largest in size Municipality of the Prefecture of Thesprotia, takes up 1/3 of its total size, covering almost all of it - with the exception of the section of the Municipality of Sagiada - the homonymous province, between the river Kalamas and the Greek-Albanian borders.
It covers an area of 490.430.000 m2 and has a population of 9.758 residents.
During the Historic times at the southern part of the region, the N.Kastrini, lived the Kestrinians, in the middle -with Fanoti (Doliani) being the center- lived the Fanotians and on the north, at the borders with Molossia, lived the tribe of the Onopernoi Thesprotoi, a total of about 20.000/25.000 residents.

 Municipality of Paramythia - Sights and Coltural Monuments of the Region
In twelve km from Plataria and thirty seven from Paramythia one reaches Igoumenitsa, the capital of the Prefecture, Seat of the Municipality which has the same name and it is the western seaport of Epirus.
It is worth visiting the seaside settlement of Sagiada, close to the Greek - Albanian boarders.
To return from Sagiada to Paramythia you have to cross the beautiful, traditional town of Filiates, Seat of the Municipality with the same name which has 45 Municipal districts and to cross the historical bridge of Kalamas.

This is only a very small booklet but it made me aware that there was more to the area than I first thought.
If you want the instructions from Igoumenitsa all you do is follow the Kestrini instructions I gave earlier with the exception that you keep going past the Kestrini sign.
That is the end of the Igoumenitsa / Sagiada / Kestrini area.

 Location
Thesprotia, due to its strategic position, was the victim of war-games for years to come.
It lost its shores from the Venetians, which were the rulers of the whole area at that time, at the end of the 4th century A.C. Parga, Fanari and Sagiada were created during that time.
Igoumenitsa, Paramithia and Osdina were created in the After-Byzantine times, in the 13th and 14th century.

Igoumenitsa 2 hours alternatively from Sagiada 1 hour.
