A second Council Fire was established in Ontario to reflect the division of the Six Nations by the international boundary.

Any enrolled member of the Saginaw Chippewa Indian Tribe of Michigan who is 21 years of age or over shall be entitled to vote at any election at which he presents himself at the polls on election day in the district in which he resides during the official voting hours.
The Tribal Council may exercise such further powers as may in the future be delegated to it by members of the Tribe, or by the Secretary of the Interior, or any other duly authorized official or agency of the State or Federal Government.
The Tribal Treasurer shall give a bond satisfactory to the Tribal Council and to the Commissioner of Indian Affairs when required for the handling of Federal funds or when, in the opinion either of the Tribal Council or of the said Commissioner, there are sufficient funds in the treasury to warrant such action.

The Tribal Council, led by Falcon, declined in January to extend Abramoff’s $180,000-a-month lobbying contract.
The council may be asked to vote on whether the stated reasons for the recall were valid.

Tribal leader Stuwart Paisano told the paper that "what we got definitely, in my opinion, did not justify the fee that we paid." Tribal officials could not be reached to comment yesterday.

Federal officials say the ousted tribal leadership refused to step down after losing four elections, forcing the government to take the rare step of intervening to recognize the new council.
Chief Kevin Chamberlain and the ousted council were considering asking tribal police to move away from the building early Wednesday evening so they could reseat themselves.
The ousted council is saying the new council has been granted control over the federal dollars, not any other tribal business, a situation the new council says would be ridiculous.
