Saginaw Charter Township is a charter township in Saginaw County in the U.S. state of Michigan.
When Saginaw Township was organized as part of Oakland County in 1831, in accordance with an 1830 act of Michigan's Territorial Legislature, it covered all of today's Saginaw County (organized in 1835) and part of Bay, Genesee and Midland counties.
The territory of the present City of Saginaw west of the Saginaw River was taken from Saginaw Township when Saginaw City was incorporated in 1857.

The State of Michigan is bounded on the north by Lake Superior, on the east by Canada, Lake Huron and Lake St. Clair, on the south by Ohio and Indiana, and on the west by Lake Michigan and the State of Wisconsin.
Michigan adopted a constitution and took all necessary steps for admission into the Union, but was prevented from doing so by reason of the Ohio dispute, which was settled by the boundary line being determined in favour of Ohio, and by Michigan obtaining instead the Upper Peninsula.
Michigan was under the control of the See of Quebec until the formation of the Diocese of Baltimore (1789), under which it remained until it was included in the Diocese of Bardstown (1808), and later, when the new Diocese of Cincinnati was created, Michigan was made a part of its territory.

Lucius Lyon presented a petition of sundry citizens of the Territory of Michigan, praying that an appropriation may be made for the purpose of erecting a light-house at the confluence of Saginaw river with Lake Huron, and improving the navigation of said river and its tributary streams.
Norvell presented the memorial of the Legislature of the State of Michigan, requesting the adoption of measures by Congress for the removal of the Lake tribes of Indians to the country east of the Mississippi; which was referred to the Committee on Indian Affairs, and ordered to be printed.
As the resources of the Saginaw Valley began to be developed in earnest, and the fame of this region widened, it was felt that the village near the mouth of the river should have a title by which it could more easily and readily distinguished.

The parking lot is cracked from many harsh Michigan winters (and lack of maintenance), and there was an almost ridiculous amount of trash and broken glass.
