The Saguenay River is a major river of Quebec, Canada.
The confluence of the Saguenay and Saint Lawrence is protected by the Saguenay - St. Lawrence Marine Park, one of Canada's national parks.

H-Net Review: Beatrice Craig on Quelques Arpents d'Amerique: Population, Economie, Famille au Saguenay, 1838-1971
Bouchard, this "reproduction a l'identique" was the overriding goal pursued by Saguenay farmers, the one to which they subordinated all their activities: each household wanted to produce as many clones of itself as possible.
The existing literature suggests that the pattern of family reproduction uncovered in the Saguenay was not unique to this region, and that it could be found, in whole or in part, in most regions of North America during the settlement phase.
Finally, the placing of the Saguenay in a North American, as opposed to a national context, is definitely a fruitful strategy: Quebeckers, Ontarians, Maritimers, New Englanders and other Northeasterners more often than not adopted the same strategies when confronted with the same physical, human or economic environment.

Geomorphic effects and impacts from July 1996 severe flooding in the Saguenay area, Quebec
The Saguenay floods caused severe inundation and extensive erosion along some river reaches resulting in major channel widening and bank erosion, breaching of dams and dykes, and damage to bridges and roads.
Flooding in the Saguenay area was caused by a major storm system that stalled over the mouth of the St. Lawrence River between July 18-21, 1996, and which dropped record amounts of rainfall.
The intense rainfall from the July 18-21 storm, in combination with the near-saturated ground conditions produced by the antecedent July rainfall and the generally thin, discontinuous overburden blanketing the bedrock of the Laurentian Highlands produced widespread flooding throughout the northshore of the St. Lawrence River southern Quebec.
