Sahebganj, July 5: For residents of the district, better days after British rule are yet to come.
A month later, the railway control room (which controls the movements of trains from Sahebganj to Dhanuri, Sahebganj to Khana junction and Sahebganj to Ajimganj sections), signal, office of DME and office of foreman of loco, along with the loco shed, were shifted to Malda.
After three decades, Sahebganj town was left with two running rooms, two railway institutes and a few other buildings as remnants of its past.

Sahebganj, Oct. 3: While movement of long distance superfast trains at Sahebganj station continues to be disrupted, local passenger trains are being allowed to ply as part of a trial after repair on the Sahebganj-Barharwa loop section.
Panic-stricken officials of Eastern Railway appear to be busy covering their lapse over their failure in crisis management by allowing the passenger trains to ply on the faulty tracks.
Sources from Sahebganj station were unable to justify why passenger trains were being run on a trial on the under-constructed loop section.

According to sources in the Vaishali district administration, a woman lost her life when criminals lobbed crude bombs at a booth at Kanchanpur village under Bidupur block in the Raghopur constituency represented by leader of Opposition in state assembly Rabri Devi.

Sahebganj (Jharkhand), April 30 (PTI) Seventeen people, including three officials of the state Food Corporation, were today killed and 34 injured in separate road accidents in Jharkhand today.
Seven persons were killed and 21 injured when the truck in which they were travelling skidded off the road and overturned near Jelebhia Ghati in Sahebganj district, deputy Supertintendent of Police, Nirmal Kumar Mishra, said.
The sand-laden truck was heading to Sahebganj from Barheit when it hurtled down the ghati, killing all the seven on the spot.

Survey work for the 171-km long Hajipur-Sugauli rail line via Vaishaligarh and Sahebganj (in Muzaffarpur district) was carried out long ago but the Railway Ministry showed no interest in the project.
In 1997, the then railway minister announced the preparation of a report for the Rs 100 crore project considering that Vaishaligarh is an important religious destination for the Jain community.

A Malaysian government delegation has already visited Ranchi and held talks with Marandi on the building of the new capital complex.
The Malaysian team also made an aerial survey of the national highways passing through the state and identified a spot in Sahebganj area where a bridge has to be built across the Ganga.
The team studied the Greater Ranchi area and identified the core area where state Assembly, secretariat, and residences of the governor, chief minister etc could be located.
