While Imam Ahmad bin Said came to prominence in the history of contemporary Oman as the founder of the Bu Said state, information on his private life before his rise confirms that he was a respectable, decent, and honest trader from a purely Arab family that worked primarily as traders.
Sayyid Sultan bin Ahmad was killed at the end of that continuing struggle on November 30 1804 AD (Shaaban 14 1219 AH), at the hands of mercenaries during a sea trip between Basra and Oman.
Sultan Sayyid Faysal bin Turki ascended to the rule of Oman at a time when the Arab world was witnessing a wave of colonial influence, particularly from the French and the British, who had occupied many parts of the Arab world or subjugated them to their spheres of influence.
