		Instead only men who directly touched Saidin were affected, and it has been said that those who remained within the Stedding did not go mad (though the absence of Saidin eventually drew them out).
		Saidin IS all around (can be channelled pretty much anywhere excluding stedding and Terangreal areas) but unless actively grasped, remians passive...note the all pervading beleif among channelers that if a man could just avoid holding Saidin they WOULD NOT GO MAD.

		I can't remember which post mentioned this but there was some question as why saidir was not the only source used to cleanse saidin at the end, and how the EotW was created.
		W/o the two sa'angreal it took all of the power and the lives of those who tried just to create the small ammount that was stored in the Eye.
		From the descriptions RJ gives of drawing on saidin its something akin to an oil slick on the surface of a lake.

	2.3.12 What caused the One Power weirdness in Ebou Dar?
		At various points through TPOD, we are hit in the face with the fact that something other than the taint on saidin is wrong with the One Power in general.
		It is important to note that he uses almost the exact same words as Elayne does-- a weave that does not want to form, then forms quickly and violently.
		By definition, Elayne's weaving and unweaving of the Gateway does not involve saidin, and it is difficult to see how a saidar-only weave could affect saidin so profoundly.
