  Saint Charles Borromeo - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Borromeo was made prothonotary, entrusted with both the public and the privy seal of the ecclesiastical state, and created cardinal with the administration of Romagna and the March of Ancona, and the supervision of the Franciscans, the Carmelites and the Knights of Malta.
On the death of Pius IV (1566), the skill and diligence of Borromeo contributed materially to suppressing the cabals of the conclave.
His nephew, Federico Borromeo (1564-1631), was archbishop of Milan from 1595, and in 1609 founded the Ambrosian library in that city.

His uncle, Pius IV, summoned Charles, a student at Pavia, to Rome in 1560.
In rapid order he was made cardinal-deacon, administrator of the Papal States and of the archdiocese of Milan, and papal secretary of state.
He was most zealous in encouraging reform in the church and was largely responsible for reopening (1560) the Council of Trent, of which he was the guiding spirit.

The Saint Charles Parish annual bazaar of 1956 was one of the many congregational efforts under Father Brooks to raise money for the building fund or parish indebtedness, and it climaxed four months of activities in support of each of four candidates for queen.
The new Saint Charles building complex, designed by Julian and Associates, architects of Houston, was completed by April, 1968, and the dedication was scheduled for late Sunday afternoon, at 5:30 on May 5, 1968.
During those years, Saint Charles' members also watched as scores of their sons and daughters mrched away to three wars, Two of them laid their lives on the altar of liberty, and surely many others bore the battle scars and performed the deeds of valor that, largely, are known only to God.

The area north of the Missouri River experienced intense post World War II growth, and the Most Rev. Charles H. LeBlond assigned the task of establishing a new parish and school for the Diocese of St. Joseph to Rev. Maurice Wogan.
Story has it that St. Charles Borromeo was LeBlond's patron saint, but "Borromeo" did not appear on church records until around 1960.
