James is one of the state's nineteen original parishes, created by act of the territorial legislature, March 31, 1807.
In the parish the population was spread out with 29.50% under the age of 18, 9.80% from 18 to 24, 28.10% from 25 to 44, 21.40% from 45 to 64, and 11.10% who were 65 years of age or older.

James Parish is a parish located in the state of Louisiana.
James is the only cultivation site in the world for Perique tobacco, introduced by an Acadian exile,, whose nickname was "Perique." It has been produced by his descendants for nearly two centuries (now covering only a 300 acre (1.2 km²) tract) and is in great demand by large tobacco companies.
The racial makeup of the parish is 49.99% White, 49.38% Black or African American, 0.09% Native American, 0.05% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.12% from other races, and 0.37% from two or more races.

Saint James is a parish of Barbados on the western side of the island, and is becoming increasingly known as the playground of the rich and famous, and a haven for sun-starved tourists.
Under the authority of King James, the British claimed Barbados when they arrived at St. James' present-day city of Holetown (formerly Jamestown, named after the King himself), and established Barbados into what would later be known as "Little England".
The parish is home to the prestigious Queen's College, one of the foremost schools not only in Barbados, but the Caribbean, founded over a century ago by a British plantation owner by the name of Col. Henry Drax.

Under the direction of Organist and Choirmaster James Buonemani with Assistant Organist Andrew Brownell, it is the first American choir to have sung in performance with the Choir of Westminster Abbey.
In August of 1999, the Choir of St. James' was honored to serve as the choir-in-residence at Westminster Abbey, London.
Saint James' Girls Choir is open to girls in 7th Grade or higher.  Membership in Saint James' Parish is not a requirement for membership in the choir.

The young ladies of the parish and the Ushers Club often gave euchre and dance socials in the Garage Hall which was located over the Old Sewickley Automotive Company at Beaver and Chestnut Streets.
In 1907 it was reported that Bishop Canevin preached a very interesting sermon at St. James Church on the lift of St. Patrick, after which the congregation was invited to meet the bishop at the residence of Father Sweeney.
Rooms were named for saints which corresponded to the names of the donors who gave from $100 to $500 to help establish the school.

St. James Parish, located midway between New Orleans and Baton Rouge on the mighty Mississippi River and divided in two by the Father of Waters, is one of the original nineteen parishes created on March 31, 1807, by an act of the Orleans Territorial Legislature.
Prior to its creation as a civil parish, St. James Parish formed a part of the "Comte' d'Acadie" or Country of Acadia, which was composed of the old ecclesiastical parishes of the St. James and "The Ascension," commonly referred to then as the First and Second Acadian Coasts.

Established in 1892, St. James lies in the heart of scenic Falls Church, seven miles outside of Washington, D.C. In 1873, Richmond Bishop James Gibbons established St. James as a mission of St. Mary Parish in Alexandria.
