 Saint Olaf College - Uncyclopedia
Originally, St. Olaf College in Northfield MN was formed as the central holding facility in a Norwegian penal colony.
Because so many academics and interior decorators were already exiled, Saint Olaf immediately had a large teaching staff, and with the former “commandant of punishment” now the “director of music,” none dared question the quality of the music program.
But all was not well; as long as they were being paid for the college, the Minnesota state government had no issue with housing foreign criminals on state land, but if it was a money making proposition that was another story.

Students at Saint Olaf College take Beginning Greek not just to satisfy the college's foreign language requirement but also to satisfy their curiosity about a subject reputed to be both fascinating and demanding.
At Saint Olaf we are always in a rush: we retain many of our Greek students for just three semesters (the extent of the language requirement), yet we want them to have the experience of reading an ancient work in the original before they leave us.
It has apparently become traditional for students to spend part of every lab imitating and telling funny stories about the Saint Olaf Classics professors--behavior that we don't frown upon, since it contributes to the esprit de corps that we try to cultivate around the department, and since, after all, we are pretty funny.

Over the years I've had little to do with the current affairs of Saint Olaf College, always believing that the administration, faculty, and students are the persons most effected by day to day decisions.
The value of my Saint Olaf experience and the effect it has had on my life as related to my faith, my public service, and my career is inestimable and priceless.
I am troubled that Saint Olaf would sell WCAL and silence the trusted, valuable public voice that has spread the mission of the college for so many years.

Sometime that same year, the wife of the second president of Saint Olaf College, Anna Elizabeth Ringstad Mohn, was inspired by Longfellow's poem and suggested that the hill where the college was located should be called "Manitou Heights."
There is a real commitment at St. Olaf to inclusiveness and understanding, from the cross-cultural component included in the curriculum to its successful efforts to continue enrolling students of color and of different nationalities.
While our name is not meant to imply that Saint Olaf College approves of what we do or supports this undertaking in any way, we hope that what we do will be in the spirit of the Saint Olaf community and bring credit to them.
