		Minds were formed in accordance with the principles of St. Thomas; he became the great master, exercising a world-wide influence on the opinions of men and on their writings; for even those who did not adopt all of his conclusions were obliged to give due consideration to his opinions.
		From the prologue to the "Summa" it is clear that St. Thomas was opposed to all that was superfluous and confusing in Scholastic studies.

		A mission outpost in the 1860's, St. Thomas the Apostle Roman Catholic Church was founded as a parish in 1869, in a small brown frame church on the corner of 55th Street and Kimbark Avenue in Chicago, Illinois.
		Within 20 years, the parish outgrew the original church and the frame building was replaced with a substantial vernacular Victorian gothic brick structure in 1890.
		The St. Thomas organ is among the greatest in Chicago, consisting of over 3,500 pipes (ranging from 3/8 of an inch to 32 feet) located behind the rood screen and in an elevated chamber to the right of the Sanctuary.
