Spirit Caravan was a Maryland doom/stoner metal band featuring the guitarist and vocalist Scott "Wino" Weinrich formerly of The Obsessed and Saint Vitus.
The band had a lyrical emphasis on spirituality (though not necessarily religion) and global politics.
After the band's demise, Weinrich joined Place of Skulls, founded a new band, The Hidden Hand, and contributed vocals and guitars to Dave Grohl's project PROBOT.

The band was first formed in 1979 under the name Tyrant but they changed their name later on.

SAINT VITUS were one of the pioneers of doom metal in the 80's.
While bands like TROUBLE and CANDLEMASS had enough doodling on the side to keep the average Joe Headbanger happy, SAINT VITUS kept their SABBATH riffage as raw and basic as possible, with stunted rhythms and weird, noisy leads.
Bands like KHANATE and FISTULA may be unsurpassable in their ultra-heaviness (and of course we all love 'em for it), but none of them sound as genuinely dark as SAINT VITUS.

I believe that Saint Vitus got a musical vasectomy when original vocalist Scott Reagers left the band; his unique voice added charisma and life to even the slowest and sludgiest songs of SV's earlier albums.
The band released two more terrible albums with Weinrich, and then replaced him with Christian Linderson in 1992 for the god-awful "C.O.D." (at which point, guitarist Dave Chandler went by the ridiculous moniker "D.C. Vitus"...no doubt Dave was inspired by M.C. Hammer??).

The band threw in the towel and disbanded in the winter of 2002.
It is difficult to tell whether this five-track EP is a genuine return for the band or a compilation of several tracks packaged together.

Advance tickets are recommended; get 'em here...please, PLEASE come out and support this one, as I want all of these amazing bands to get the love they deserve.
The band will go back to being a four-piece for the time being, and isn't actively seeking a replacement for Pat at the moment.
