 St Sulpice
, The Église de Saint-Sulpice is a Baroque church in the center of the Left Bank (the "6th Arrondissement") of Paris.
Quite possibly the church of Saint-Sulpice - and the earlier, 12th C. edifice - had been built on the very shrine of Isis after whom some believe the city of Paris itself was named.
For New Agers and mystics, there is even more: Saint Sulpice is believed to emanate a certain spiritual frequency - one that sustains feminine energies and the search for unbiased truth.

The Church of Saint Sulpice was started in 1646 by an architect by the name of Le Vau and that it was not finally completed until some one hundred thirty-four years later, after six different architects had worked on it.
By the year 1733, all that remained to be built of Saint Sulpice's was the facade, and then it was decided, as so often happens in churches that are a long time in the building -and the wonder is that it did not happen more often-to change its style.

 CD Review - The Organ
Daniel Roth is in fine fettle upon the mighty Cavaillé-Coll Organ of Saint-Sulpice, Paris, with a chronological pattern, of sorts, containing French music stretching from the reign of Louis XIV to a champion of twentieth century organ music, Marcel Dupré.
Music by Guillaume-Gabriel Nivers (1632-1714) and Louis-Nicolas Clérambault (1676-1749) may seem at a loss with an instrument of this dimension in Saint-Sulpice but Roth is stylistically aware enough to allow the music much of its inherent majesty without overloading the lines at the expense of clarity.
A tribute is made to Jean-Jacques Grunenwald, the successor on this instrument to Dupré - it was two years after Grunenwald's death (1982) that the then Cardinal of Paris, Monsignor Lustiger, drew up a document allowing the Curé of the parish to keep his authority over the appointments to well known Parisian instruments.
