Hapoel Ihoud Bnei Sakhnin FC (Hebrew: הפועל איחוד בני סכנין, Arabic: اتحاد أبناء سخنين) is an Israeli football club, and is based at Doha Stadium, Sakhnin.
On January 29, 2005 Sakhnin fans rioted at Haifa's Qiryat Eliezer Stadium during a match against Hapoel Tel Aviv FC after a violent incident on the field between a team official and a referee, who earlier had shown red cards to two of Sakhnin players for vicious fouls.
Sakhnin participated in the UEFA Cup of 2004/2005 reaching the first round after beating KF Partizani Tirana 6-1 on aggregate in the second qualifying round.

Five decades of violence and intimidation against Sakhnin have achieved the desired result: the town has been stripped of its lands except for the ground on which the homes of its 25,000 inhabitants are built.
Sakhnin's traumatic history is worth recounting, though its experience is little different from that of the dozens of other Arab communities in Israel.
The government hoped to confiscate Sakhnin's lands on the pretext that they were not being cultivated; in the late 1960s Israel raised the stakes by planting landmines in the surrounding fields.

While Palestinians gathered in Sakhnin to protest such 'indirect' confiscation, Palestinians in the occupied territories were marching against the more 'direct' expropriations embodied by Jewish settlements in or near Nablus, Hebron, Ramallah, Gaza and Ras Al-Amud in Jerusalem.
As the marchers at Sakhnin climbed through the gorgeous Galilee countryside of cypress trees and eroded stone hills, several hundred of the younger members peeled off to throw stones at the contested military base.
Thus, while the Sakhnin march was supported by sizeable contingents from Israel's Communist and Islamist movements, it was led by a gigantic Palestinian flag.

Arab football team makes history for Israel - 16 August 2004
Most of Sakhnin's 22,000 residents were loath to leave the relative safety of the country's northern Galilee region and venture into Tel Aviv, where there is a general mood of hostility towards Arabs, for the early stages of the competition.
However, since Sakhnin earned their place in the UEFA competition by winning the State Cup in May against a Haifa side, the Israeli media has been arguing that the victory reflects a new atmosphere of coexistence between the country's Jewish majority and its one million Arab citizens.
Today, overcrowded Sakhnin is surrounded on all sides by a military base, an industrial estate and a string of luxury hilltop Jewish communities, which have been given control of the town's lands.
