Saivism and Saktism by Dr. Subhash C. Sharma
Siva in Saktism is of the nature of omnipresent, pure consciousness, impersonal and inactive.
In stead of the twenty-five tattvas (principles) of the Samkhya, the Saktas (followers of saktism) have thirty-six with (1) Sivatattva (or the supreme), (2) Vidyatattva (or the subtle manifestation of Sakti), (3) Atmatattva, and so on.
The theories of karma, rebirth, gross and subtle bodies, are accepted by the Saktas.

The Saktas An introductory and comparative study
The chief characteristics of Saktism are the idea of the Deity as Destroyer, its conception of God as Mother, and its attention to ceremonial.
The present work attempts to describe the sect, and outline its practices; consider the rise of Sakta ideas in the religious literature of Hinduism; and indicate some possible causes of its popularity, and the origin of some of its beliefs.
The author tries to convince that Saktism is not just about awe, dread and propitiation but love and tenderness are also its characteristics.

The final destiny of all souls is union with the Supreme, most widely revered as Shiva for Saivism, Sakti for Saktism, Vishnu for Vaisnavism, and Brahman for Liberalism.
A secondary goal for the Saktism is to perform good work selflessly so that one may go to heaven after death and thereafter enjoy a good rebirth on earth, for heaven is also a transitory state.
The sustained and consistent practice of yoga brings union with God through the grace of the living true teacher (Sat Guru) and culminates in the soul's maturity, the state of wisdom (Jnana).

Tantric Buddhism and Saktism (Goddess-worship) share an emphasis upon female deities and women as embodiments of female divinity.
Both movements display a tendency to see the universe as generated by female creativity, a recognition of femaleness as ontologically primary and maleness as derivative and dependent, and a deference to women in social and ritual contexts.....The confluence of Buddhism and Saktism is such that Tantric Buddhism could properly be called "Sakta Buddhism."

There are four main denominations: Saivism, Saktism, Vaisnavism, and liberalism (non-sectarian forms).
The path for Saivism divides the spiritual progress of the soul into four progressive stages of belief and practice, called Chariya, Kriya, Yoga, and Jnana.
There is more emphasis on Sakti, God's power as opposed to being, and on embracing apparent opposites: male and female, absolute and relative, pleasure and pain, cause and effect, mind and body.

 Tantric Yoga
The three chief sects of Hinduism, viz., Vaishnavism, Saivism, and Saktism, base their doctrines and dogmas on their respective Agamas.
When practiced by the ignorant, unenlightened, and unqualified persons, it has led to certain abuses; and there is no denying that some degraded forms of Saktism have sought nothing but magic, immorality, and occult powers.
Absence of these qualities in the practitioner means a gross abuse of Saktism.

The concept of Sakti in Laksmidhara's commentary on the Saundaryalahari in relation to Abhinavagupta's Tantraloka
The concept of sakti is essential to the study of Indian religious thought because it elucidates the general problem of causality and provides insight into two of the most prominent Tantric systems, Saktism and Saivism.
In spite of the concept's importance in these systems, as yet there has been no comparative, philological study of saki's role in Saivism and Saktism.
The present study examines the concept of sakti in Srivida--the most important branch of Sakta Tantrism--and offers an explicit interpretation of the usage of the term in wider Sakta literature.

Actually, there can be a special (main) topic section "Saivism and Saktism" (like Advaita and Dwaita perhaps) right next to Advaita and Dwaita topics.
Moreover, Saivism (Saiva Siddhanta at least) and Saktism are both dualistic (dwaita) in nature, and therefore will be of some academic interest to the Vaisnava-dwaitas.
In any case, when a separate section for Saivism and Saktism is created, this post will be immediately moved there (or to the philosophical discussions).

The main thesis of the book concerns the democratizing and sweetening of Kali and the Bengalization of Uma (and by extension her husband Shiva).
