John Buscema - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Buscema's first hit was his run on Avengers (beginning in 1966, with writer Roy Thomas), and after that pencilled at least one issue of nearly every major Marvel title (notable exceptions being Iron Man and X-Men, although he worked on some X-Men spinoff titles).
Among the best-known work of Buscema are stints on The Avengers (both in the 1960s and a long 1980s run); Fantastic Four (with Thomas and writer Gerry Conway); Thor (with Conway); Silver Surfer (with Stan Lee); and a lengthy run on Conan the Barbarian (with Thomas).
Buscema semi-retired in 1996, although he continued to do the odd pencilling job; one of the last was his DC Comics debut, a Batman story.

Talent Pool 11 - Sal Buscema (Apr 1999)
Sal Buscema came into his own under the umbrella of the John Buscema house style and, though clearly derivative in his work, nonetheless managed to distinguish himself by endearing pieces across a long span of years and many titles.
Sal Buscema worked in a world not overly realistic, nor overly cartoonish, nor dominated by an inner weirdness a reader might have to learn to appreciate; to him, handsome and accessible work fulfilled his artistic aims.
Sal Buscema did a number of pieces no better than this cover over a number of years, but it takes little deep thought to consider the unfairness of judging all of his work by his weakest pieces.

There's no denying that John Buscema's draftsmanship was all but flawless and his storytelling ability effortlessly appropriate for whatever he was called upon to illustrate.
Apparently, he was fast and obviously had a solid grasp of clear, concise storytelling, and his employers had him churn out far more pages than he should've (they pulled this on John, too, but, rushed or not, his material just naturally looked swell).
