Saline County is a county located in the U.S. state of Arkansas.
Saline County was formed on November 2, 1835 and named for the salt water (brine) springs in the area.
In the county the population is spread out with 25.50% under the age of 18, 7.70% from 18 to 24, 30.20% from 25 to 44, 24.20% from 45 to 64, and 12.50% who are 65 years of age or older.

The Saline County History and Heritage Society, Inc. was formed in 1986, with the objective of preserving the history of Saline County and her families.
At the time of the founding of the SCHHS, there was virtually nothing in print on Saline County, although the county is one of the oldest in the state, having been formed on November 2, 1835 from Pulaski county.
Saline County is one of a small number of counties with county records virtually intact: there have been no courthouse fires, although losses of records have occurred over the years through neglect.

Saline County, created in 1835, is located in the middle of the state.
Walton, physician and surgeon, of Traskwood Township, was born in Saline (now Grant) County, January 23, 1863, and is the son of James and Angelena(Poe) Walton, natives of Mississippi and Arkansas, respectively.
James Walton came to Arkansas in 1860 and followed the occupation of a carpenter for one year, but afterward engaged in farming.
