Maxson is a member of the Oneida County Medical Society and at present its delegate to the New York State Medical Society, and a member and the president of the Utica Medical Library Association, and was a member of the Eighth International Ophthalmological Congress held In Edinburgh, Scotland, in August, 1894.
Philip settled in Oneida county in 1865, and is engaged in farming.

Of particular interest is a lengthy letter to the [?] County Superintendent of schools, in which Willard relates in detail her vision of the ideal educational plan for common schools, and advocates the use of women to serve under the Superintendent or on committees that oversee the schools.
