The Lieutenant de Vaisseau Lavallee is a French D'Estienne D'Orves (Type A 69) class frigate of 950 tons displacement launched in 1979.
HMS Lindisfarne is a British Island Class offshore patrol vessel of 925 tons displacement.
She carries a crew of 39 and is armed with a Bofors 40 mm Mk 3 gun; a DES/Oerlikon 30 mm/75 Mk 1 gun and two FN 7.62 mm machine-guns.

 Salisbury Class Aircraft Direction Frigates (Type 61)
Salisbury was originally to have been built at Portsmouth but in the event was the first post-war ship built at Devonport and the first pre-fabricated, all welded ship built for the Royal Navy.
Salisbury collided with the Destroyer HMS Diamond in the English Channel on June 23rd 1964 and was severely damaged.
Salisbury was found to have severe corrosion to her hull plating and she was considered for scrapping.

The design of this class of ship is largely credited to John Ericsson, a Swede who immigrated to America and pioneered the use of propellers and fan assisted engines, though he is more commonly known for his design of the USS Monitor.
The Type 81 Tribal class frigate appeared as a general purpose frigate designed to operate in the warmer waters of the Gulf and Far East where the submarine threat was not so all consuming as in the Atlantic.
Although classed as a frigate they were more properly a Sloop or Corvette, they were true to the Loch class in that they were largely pre-fabricated, but that made them expensive for what they were.

In April 1954 the Admiralty expected the first type 61 frigate to complete in 1955 (actual completion was 1957), or about the same time that a type 62 conversion would be ready.

The BPS-500 class is intended to carry eight Kh-35 Uran (NATO SS-N-25 Switchblade) antiship missiles, a 76.2-mm dual-purpose gun, and a 30-mm Gatling gun and is to be powered by three German-made diesels for 32-knot speeds.

In 1987, U.S. intelligence reported that a new class of ballistic missile submarine, a follow-on to the Delta IV class, was under construction at Severodvinsk.
In addition, one of six Alfa class submarines was withdrawn and scrapped in 1988, and two Juliett class submarines were transferred from the Northern Fleet to the Baltic Sea in November 1989, possibly on their way to being scrapped.
The SS-N- 3c is deployed on Echo II and Juliett class cruise missile submarines, and the SS-N-3b is deployed on Kresta I and Kynda class cruisers.

In the RN cruisers were divided into 3 classes- 1st class or armoured cruisers- ships that were large, expensive to build and in certain cases even larger than contemporary capital ships.
Thus frigates were re-born and with a new role- to serve as escort vessels for convoys.
The River class was the first to be completed, being designed as a larger and more capable ocean escort to rectify the shortcomings of the Flower class corvettes, which was rather small and slow.

The South Korean frigate has been decommissioned since, and is setting sail into the deep sea once in a while lest it is junked.
Till then the frigate, now known as 'dw200hfrigate' in alphabets and digits, will be piloted to the waters in the deep sea to keep the engines warm and the rust away.
Given the obsolescence of the frigate fleet, the decision to obtain a frigate may have been in order, although a similar purchase was discarded by the preceding government for resources crunch.

A follow-on to the LEOPARD class (Type 41) frigate, the Type 61 retained the same hull but incorporated improvements realized during the building of the Type 41s.
It had become apparent that guns were not sufficient for anti-aircraft defence, and that carrier-bourne aircraft and the ability to control them was more effective.
Both classes shared the basic hull design with the earlier Type 12 frigates, but with a shorter raised foc'st'le.

The frigate building programme of the early 1950s had resulted in some 35 vessels of various classes ('Whitby', 'Blackwood', 'Salisbury', 'Leopard' and 'Rothesay') which gave a good sized fleet of modern escort vessels, but resulted in standardisation problems.
These included the cost of building, designing and maintaining several classes of vessels, and the problems of ensuring such specialist vessels were available for deployment.
A variety of sonars were fitted (Types 177 or 184, 170B, 162 and 199) as was the Type 965, 993 and 975 or 978 radars.
