As a result, in the Salle des Etats, the tiny "Mona Lisa" – just 30.3 by 21.7 inches – now hangs opposite Veronese's monumental "Marriage at Cana" – 32.6 by 22.2 feet – and is accompanied by 52 works from the Venetian Renaissance, including paintings by Titian, Bassano, Tintoretto and Lotto and others by Veronese.

The move was made for several reasons, not the least of which is that the Salle des Etats is larger than the Grand Gallery and can more easily accommodate the 6 million-plus visitors who traipse through the museum annually to see the painting.
Cafés are required to post a tarif des consommations, a list that includes prices for the basics ranging from café (espresso) to vin rouge (red wine) and list two prices, au comptoir (at the counter) and à terrasse or à salle (seated at a table).

It was recently moved from its temporary location elsewhere in the museum to its new permanent home in the refurbished Salle des Etats, with non-reflective (and probably bulletproof) glass, climate controlled environment, and presumably, assorted security features.
There was a recurring forest of digicams at the far end of the room, sprouting up on outstretched arms, wobbling around for a few moments, then coming down, over and over.
Not being much of an art student, I’d never heard of the painting before, but it was my personal Art highlight for our visit to the Louvre, and I may need to go back to the Salle des Etats next time just to look at it again.
