Sallet - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The sallet (also called salade) was a war helmet that replaced the bascinet in northern Europe during the mid-15th century.
A sallet needed no breathing holes because, when returned to the ready position, there was a natural gap where it overlapped the bevor near the wearer's mouth.
One characteristic that distinguishes early sallets from late sallets is the length of the helmet tail, which became more pronounced toward the end of the century.

What is remarkable is that the Sallet views were frequently written in the interest of some cause that affected the Germans from Russia—famine in Russia in 192l, shortages and the lack of news about their fate in the mid-1920s, the repeat of famine and hunger in 1933.
Sallet was able to garner new subscriptions not because the paper's glitz and glamour or its slick advertising, but because the editor was socially and humanely concerned about his chosen readership.
Sallet and his attorney argued that the dispatch that appeared in that other paper was not filed in translation by its editor and neither its editor nor its publisher were investigated, arrested, or charged with a crime.

Arms & Armour Glossary of Terms
Sallet design roughly followed the nationalistic style preferences represented by the Milanese and Gothic styles, though there was a degree of overlap as armouries strove to create pieces in competition with their rivals.
There is no clear distinction between a sallet and the barbute or the armet; there are pieces that are clearly both a sallet and a barbute or an armet.
Generally the sallet was a lighter helmet that was in common use amongst the soldiery throughout the period, while the armet and barbute seem to have been more popular with the nobility, at least in Italy.
