Boston Brahmin - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Boston Brahmins, also called the First Families of Boston, are the class of New Englanders who claim hereditary and cultural descent from the English Protestants who founded the city of Boston, Massachusetts and settled New England.
According to Yankee magazine, many Brahmin families intermarried and were perceived as marked by their distinctive elocution, the Boston Brahmin accent.
Many of the Brahmin families trace their ancestry back to the original founders of Boston while others bought their way into society during the nineteenth century with their profits from commerce and trade or by marrying into established Brahmin families like the Emersons and Winthrops.

Saltonstall's consternation was comical, for she had been so absorbed in her own affairs she had suspected nothing; and horror fell upon her when she learned how near dear Philip had been to the fate from which she jealously guarded him, that his property might one day benefit the darlings.

Sir Samuel Saltonstall, son of a Lord Mayor of London.
After looking up on the Saltonstall family history, the most likely candidate for the "terrible storm" story is not the first (+1630) or second wife of Sir Richard (+1640)(from the picture), but the THIRD wife, Martha Cammock, who became his widow in 1661.
There were two daughters Saltonstall but they were married (and not be called Lady Saltonstall) and the young Sir Richard lived in America so would not have a wife or children in London at the time.

Programs & Services - Prevention & Early Intervention   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-11-01)
Early Intervention services are mandated by the state to families with children between birth and three years of age, who display a developmental delay, a medical diagnosis and/or risk factors that may hinder their development.
Service for children and families is provided at Head Start, at the early child care and education center, in the family's home, or, less frequently, at the offices in Roslindale.
Since the children are young, and the families are frequently in an early stage of family development, early intervention in the life cycle of the child and the life cycle of the family is preventive and supports the entire family's growth and development.
