The ground cover was Woodland Scenic which over the years has faded quite dramatically, to the extent that once the new adjoining River Dutton and Wirrandra modules were sceniced, it looked quite out of place.
Actually, the faded colour around the saltpan is probably reasonable as the salt affects the vegetation and ground cover closer to the pan.
The saltpans are much shallower now, wich is a much better appearance, and the colour of the scenery matches the adjoining modules.

An ancient saltpan, sought by archaeologists for the last 37 years, was recently uncovered at the small seaside hamlet of Dalyan in Muğla, officials announced this week.
Archaeologists believe the ancient saltpan is the first of its kind in Turkey and say this is the most outstanding archaeological find of recent times as its pans are still intact despite the thousands of years of disuse.
The ancient city of Kaunos, which houses the ancient saltpan, is believed to date back to 3000 B.C. Kaunos, which was a wealthy state that minted its own coins, later came under the rule of the Ionians, Alexander the Great and the Roman, Byzantine, Seljuk and Ottoman empires.
