		It was the birthplace of Silvio Pellico, typographer Bodoni, Abate Denina, and Malcarne the anatomist.
		Saluzzo was a town of the Vagienni, or mountain Liguri, and later of the Salluvii.
		In the Carlovingian era it became the residence of a count; later, having passed to the marquesses of Susa, Manfredo, son of Marquess Bonifacio del Vasto, on the division of that principality became Marquess of Saluzzo; this family held the marquisate from 1142 till 1548.

		Among the celebrities of Saluzzo are Silvio Pellico, Bodoni, the famous printer of Parma of the late 18th and early 19th centuries, and Casalis the historian of Sardinia.

		It is the cycling-tourism, an important sector that today must be reinforced; also for this reason the cities of the Saluzzo territory have become promoters, a couple of years ago, of the creation of a map showing the Saluzzo cycling area which consists of quiet roads.
		All the itineraries are signalled on the spot, with arrows of brown colour characterized by the number of the itinerary (in green or yellow) and by a nice "marmot" riding a bicycle.
		Continuing towards the hamlet Falicetto of Verzuolo, the road winds among fields and orchards of peach trees while the attention is attracted by the Bisalta, in the east, and by the Monviso, in the west.

		In 1588 Saluzzo in a short campaign was occupied by troops from Savoy-Piemont.
		In 1600-1601, France and Savoy would fight a war, which at times is referred to as the War of Saluzzo; while Savoy-Piemont lost the war, it held on to Saluzzo.

		Per arrivare a Saluzzo: da nord o sud seguire l'Autostrada A6 Torino-Savona uscendo a Marene; da est si può seguire la Strada Statale 231 da Asti fino a Bra e quindi dirigersi verso Saluzzo.
		Saluzzo è diventata famosa anche per la lunga tradizione dell'artigianato del mobile e del restauro: interessanti, a riguardo, le fiere nazionali di maggio e settembre.

		Ormai è deciso: le suore della congregazione fondata dalla monregalese Rosa Govone nel 1760, che da più di 200 anni predicano il vangelo dalla casa di via dell'Annunziata, lasceranno Saluzzo.
		Sono state richiamate a Torino, dove continueranno la loro attività di aiuto verso i più deboli e dove collaboreranno nell'assistenza delle consorelle più anziane.
		Le due ultime Rosine, suor Ausilia e suor Giovanna, erano arrivate a Saluzzo 27 anni fa e da allora non ci sono più stati arrivi, ma solo decessi e partenze.
