As the title suggests, mandolin picker Sam Bush's second solo album is a mixed bag of new grass instrumentals, old-timey bluegrass and country pop.
Bush is joined by long time New Grass Revival collaborator Béla Fleck, keyboard legend Al Kooper and a complement of talented sidemen on this spin through modern Nashville bluegrass.

Bush collaborated last year with David Grisman on the project, “Hold on, We’re Strummin’,” but it’s been about four years since Sam put out his last solo album called “Ice Caps: Peaks of Telluride” in 2000.
Bush, of course, went on to be a member of Emmylou Harris’ “Nash Ramblers” from 1990-94, then toured for a year with Bela Fleck and the Flecktones.

Sam Bush has always been an innovator and the self-produced King of My World is certainly innovative.
In its stead is a rather awesome and effortless blend of bluegrass, country, rock, blues, jazz, swing, folk and South African music, all exquisitely played by Bush (on mandolin, fiddle, banjo and guitar) and his buddies Jon Randall Stewart (ex-Nash Rambler) on guitar, Byron House on acoustic bass and Chris Brown on drums.
Unfortunately, Randall Stewart has left Sam Bush's band in order to pursue his own solo career, but Brad Davis, who already plays on several tracks of the album, is an excellent replacement.
