  Samad Behrangi
Samad Behrangi was born into a lower-class Azerbaijani family in the southern division of Charandab, Tabriz, the commercial and administrative capital of Azerbaijan Province, in July 1939.
Behrangi grew critical early on in his career as a teacher of both the methodology and contents of the state-sponsored textbooks.
Behrangi found fault with this methodology and thus detailed a proposal for teaching Persian to Azeri Turkish speakers that acknowledged the linguistic differences of the two languages and built on the students’ knowledge of vocabulary that was common to both Azeri Turkish and Persian alike.

Behrangi also has stories in the Azerbaijani language and a few Azerbaijani translations from Persian poems by Ahmad Shamlou, Forough Farrokhzad, and Mehdi Akhavan-Sales.
Behrangi's works for children and teens contain social themes of poverty and injustice, often with vague socialist or communist undertones, and are considered among the prominant works written for children in the Persian language in terms of structure and emotional impact.

Although Behrangi's work covers issues ranging from education, on which he was a qualified expert being a teacher in the villages of the province of Azarbaijan, to various literary and social topics, it is his children's stories that made him most famous and brought the wrath of the powers to be upon him.

Book Review: "The Little Black Fish and Other Modern Persian Short Stories"
For Behrangi, this belief turned his tragically short life into a mission to educate and enlighten.
There, just when the journey's end is in sight, and a home can be found with a band who defeat the fishermen by swimming together and dragging down their nets, the fish tempts fate once too often and goes down in a last desperate struggle.
But courage and the search for knowledge are their own reward, as we see in the last few lines, when the grandmother has finished her bed-time story: "Eleven thousand nine hundred and ninety nine little fish said goodnight and went to sleep.
