 Hatha Yoga Pradipika (Samadhi)
Dissolution is samadhi; re-creation is shambhavi mudra, work with the sound symbol (mantra) and the image symbol (yantra), the source of inner light.
The gross material aspect as sound and light; the subtle aspect as inner sound and inner radiance; the causal aspect as the divine experience of samadhi where there is no longer any difference between the three realms, where they once more are what they have eternally been: Siva, the aspect of dissolution of Brahaman.
Samadhi, of course, is not the only way to liberation, but it is the most radical and within the framework of this particular yoga the most essential.

 >>> Baron Samadhi :: Home Page <<<
Appearing from a mysterious point of origin and now based in Melbourne, Baron Samadhi is a chameleonic funked up four-piece party band unable to commit to any genre but fairly accurately described as “Disco Rock”.
The sound is a dangerously spicy blend of Disco, Soul, Reggae, Dancehall, Jazz and pinch of metal thrown in a dance party pot and boiled till the lid bursts off.

 Albums - Secret Samadhi
It is a lot heavier and the tracks sound a lot darker than the hits from Throwing Copper.
Because of this, Secre Samadhi did not match the financial success.
However, many people who have listened to the entire album believe that this is the best of the four current albums that Live has released.

ids story - LIVE, "Secret Samadhi" - 04/04/97
Unfortunately,Secret Samadhi, the band's long-awaited new release, is an unproductive musical journey lined with boring songs, disappointing lyrics and recycled emotion that just doesn't sound believable anymore.
We also expect more experimentation or creativity, and it's nowhere to be found on Secret Samadhi, except in the first single, "Lakini's Juice." Using a jagged, industrial riff as its foundation, the strong track survives despite a poor string arrangement and more pretentious lyrics.
Yet Secret Samadhi portrays the York, Pa., natives as individuals quite unsure of where to proceed musically.

 Secret Samadhi's Living Myth
Secret Samadhi will probably upset a lot of Live fans who won't like their heavier, edgier sound or scattershot lyrics.
Two songs on Samadhi are breathtaking in their passion, both of them delving to the core of our cultural mythology.
It helps, though, that both tunes are nice to listen to; the former is a bouncy, midtempo singalong and the latter a string-laden lullaby that'll probably become a huge hit.

OM Mantra and Seven Methods of Practice
Silence from which OM emerges: Eventually, this leads to a deep stillness and silence, which paradoxically, is experienced as the silence from which the sound of OM itself emerged.
Receding into OM: That vibration represented by OM is the substratum into which all those vibrations, sounds, and mantras recede when followed back to their source.
sound can be heard, like the end of the OM mantra (Or you might hear it as eeeeeeeee....) Listening to this vibration, with the awareness of OM is a good way to start with the vibration aspect of OM.

The Lotus Sutra[24] - Bodhisattva Myozon
Thereupon the Bodhisattva Wonderful Sound, without raising from his seat or swaying his body, entered into the samadhi, and through the power of the samadhi, in a place not far removed from the Dharma seat on Mount Gridhrakuta, created a jeweled mass of eighty-four thousand lotus blossoms.
Bodhisattva Wonderful Sound said to the Buddha: "World-Honored One, my journey now to the saha world is in all respects due to the power of the Thus Come One, a sport carried out by the Thus Come One's transcendental powers, an adornment to the Thus Come One's blessings and wisdom."
This bodhisattva employs various types of wisdom to illuminate the saha world, causing each one among all the living beings to acquire the appropriate understanding, and does the same in all the other worlds of the ten directions which are numerous as Ganges sands.

 GAYATRIMANTRAM
This sound Om heard during samadhi was called by all the seers nada-brahma a very great noise), but not a noise that is normally beyond a specific amplitude and limits of decibels suited to human hearing.
Hence the rishis called this sound Udgith musical sound of the above, i.e., heaven. They also noticed that the infinite mass of galaxies moving with a velocity of 20,000 miles/second was generating a kinetic energy = 1/2 MV2 and this was balancing the total energy consumption of the cosmos.
Hence they named it Pranavah, which means the body (vapu) or store house of energy (prana).

ATMA JYOTI ASHRAM - Meditation - Dharana, Dhyana, Samadhi, and Meditation
Although, as previously mentioned, many of the vrittis are inhibited, in samprajñata samadhi the vrittis of vitarka, vichara, ananda, and asmita may occur or be found underlying the consciousness of the yogi.
To induce meditation we produce a stream of identical waves in the chitta by the mental intonations of Om until that stream becomes a continuous unitary flow of increasingly rarefied sound, a single object or wave that is “untouched” by any other thought or impression.
“Asampajñata samadhi was defined in the words, ‘Yoga is the cessation (nirodha) of modifications (vritti) in the mind-substance (chitta),’” says Shankara.

Om Mani Padme Hum: The Meaning of the Mantra in Tibetan Buddhism
He meditated that the sound of the mantra was not only issuing from the mouth of each and every being, but that every atom in the universe was vibrating with it, and for a few days he recited the mantra in this state of samadhi.
In the Vajrayana context, we recite and meditate on mantra, which is enlightened sound, the speech of the [Bhodisattva of Compassion], the union of Sound and Emptiness.
The mantra originated in India; as it moved from India into Tibet, the pronunciation changed because some of the sounds in the Indian Sanskrit language were hard for Tibetans to pronounce.

Laya Yoga: Meditation on Internal Sounds (Anahata)
The accomplished aspirant interpenetrates the anahata sound and attains the state of samadhi through this method, laya yoga.
The anahata sound comes from sushumna, and, as with other sounds, it cannot be heard by the aspirant until this nadi is free from all impurities.
The absorption that is produced when the mind enters the sound (nada) emanates spiritual powers and a sort of ecstasy, and one forgets his whole material existence.

ATMA JYOTI ASHRAM - Meditation - Dharana, Dhyana, Samadhi, and Meditation
To induce meditation we produce a stream of identical waves in the chitta by the mental intonations of Om until that stream becomes a continuous unitary flow of increasingly rarefied sound, a single object or wave that is “untouched” by any other thought or impression.
Yoga Sutra 3:1 says: “Dharana is the confining (or fixing) of the chitta in a single area [desha].” The practice of meditation right away puts the chitta into the stream of the subtle sound of Om.
Although it leads to chittanirodhavritti, the inhibition of the waves in the chitta, samprajñata samadhi is not that state–at least not fully.

The Concept of Sahaj in Guru Nanaks Theology
Kabir characterises the experience of Sahaj as the ultimate human experience of bliss and peace; he calls it sahaj samadhi which one can attain by finally arresting all the functions of the mind and hence by creating an absolute vacuity within.
Apart from the characteristics of peace and tranquillity, of wonderment and bliss and of ineffable radiance by which one recognized the Sahaj state of being, Guru Nanak recognized another, that of anahad sabad, an unstuck sound which he used to experience within himself at that ultimate state of being.
Were the terms and concepts like sahaj, anahad sabad, samati and samauna, mahasukh, sahaj samadhi, jivanmukti, etc. and the nature of the description of the experience of Sahaj entirely his own?

 harold budd, avalon sutra
Best known for his collaborations with Brian Eno and the Cocteau Twins' Robin Guthrie, Budd seems to have reached equilibrium, announcing that this remarkable album (released on David Sylvian's fledgling, impressive "Samadhi Sound" imprint) is to be his last recorded work.
A more poignant, beautiful departure seems hard to imagine - what you get here are 14 immensely moving pieces, strewn with Budd's effervescent Piano cascades and panoramic soundscapes, drifting off into sublime, almost unbearable nostalgia and reflection that are signposted with track titles that open the imagination up to nameless, fading memories.
It's hard to over-estimate the contribution Harold Budd has made to modern music, his seemingly effortless take on minimalism and ambience imbuing this often academic genre with all the warmth and humility so often missing from the work of his contemporaries.

 Encyclopedia: Yoga
Traditionally, Yoga is defined by the five principal branches, delineated as Karma Yoga, the Path of Selfless Action; Bhakti Yoga, the Path of Devotion; Jnana Yoga, the Path of Wisdom; Mantra Yoga, the Path of Sacred Sound; and Hatha Yoga, the Path of Inner Power.
Patanjali in the Yoga Sutras presents the goal of yoga as 'the cessation of mental fluctuations' (cittavrtti nirodha), an achievement which gives rise to the possibility of stable meditation and thus deeper states of absorption (dhyana or samadhi).
The ultimate intention of Yoga is attainment of liberation (moksha) from worldly suffering and the cycle of birth and death (samsara).
