SAMASTIPUR: One person was killed while another sustained injuries when a bomb exploded on the premises of the Rameshwar Jute Mill, Muktapur (Samastipur), on Tuesday morning.
The deceased belonged to Chaknoor village under the Samastipur Muffasil police station of the district while the injured hails from the Muzaffarpur district.
Reports said that the bomb exploded at about 6.30 am when the general manager of the mill, N C P Sinha, was about to approach the batching department of the mill on his routine visit.

The chief magistrates of Rosera and Samastipur districts of Bihar sent calls Sunday for more army help as the flood situation deteriorated, officials said.
Similar incidents of the looting of food were reported from Samastipur, Darbhanga and Madhubani districts as flood victims complained of poor relief distribution, police said.
Hundreds of soldiers using 40 boats are already distributing flood relief but with more than 12 million people affected, many in remote areas have yet to be reached, a disaster management official said.

The letter added: ``In this background, serious apprehensions are being raised regarding fairness of the election process....The scope for suspicion is considerably aroused in the case of Samastipur and inall fairness, it may warrant a change of the DEO of Samastipur at this juncture.''

Sources said as the train, on its way to Guwahati from New Delhi, chugged down near Thaneshwar Sthan Gumti, a few yards from Samastipur station on Hajipur-Samastipur section of the East Central Railway, some children stumbled on nuts and bolts removed from the railway line where repair work was on.
The alert children soon took out their red pullovers and raised an alarm forcing the driver to apply emergency brake.
