Samisdat (russisch: сам - selbst, издательство/isdatel'stwo - Verlag) bezeichnete in der UdSSR und später auch in anderen so genannten realsozialistischen Staaten wie z.
Erstmals verwendet wurde ein Samisdat ähnlicher Begriff in den 50er Jahren des 20.
Der Begriff verkürzte sich in der weiteren Verwendung auf Samisdat und wurde zum Inbegriff für unzensierte Literatur.

Erst in den achtziger Jahren bildete sich ein breiter und kontinuierlicher politischer Samisdat heraus, der allein in der DDR herausgegeben, gedruckt und vertrieben wurde.
Zum Samisdat gehörten aber auch, was oft übersehen wird, Diskussionen etwa um Ideen von Hannah Arendt, Jürgen Habermas oder Niklas Luhmann.

Samisdat Publishers, Ltd. was a small Canadian publishing house owned and operated by Ernst Zündel, a noted Holocaust denier, during the 1980s and 1990s.
The name was taken from samizdat, a system practised in Soviet countries of covertly transmitting documents which would have been politically impossible to publish officially.
Most of the books and pamphlets published by Samisdat Publishers were associated in some way or another with Holocaust denial or promotion of Nazism.

Samisdat offers this book to its readers in the hope that they will reclaim for themselves the right to decide what is truth in history.

Samisdat (russisch: сам - selbst, издательство/isdatel'stwo - Verlag) bezeichnete in der UdSSR die Verbreitung von alternativer, nicht systemkonformer Literatur auf nichtoffiziellen Kanälen, zum Beispiel durch Handschrift, Abtippen oder Fotokopie sowie Weitergeben einzelner Exemplare.
Er parodierte damit die Namen der Staatsverlage, die zum Beispiel Goslitisdat, Detisdat oder Politisdat hießen.
Das wohl bekannteste Werk, das in der Sowjetunion nur im Samisdat erscheinen konnte, war Archipel Gulag (Архипелаг Гулаг, 1968) von Alexander Solschenizyn.

 Ernst Zündel: Defending Hitler,Denying the Holocaust
In the United States, he claimed, his mailing list of media outlets, politicians and educators reached 29,000; he placed full-page advertisements for Samisdat Publications in several mass-circulation magazines and was even able, for a time, to buy advertising space in Marvel Comics.
In December 1980, a representative of the West German Federal Ministry of Finance announced in the Bundestag that between January 1978 and December 1979, some "200 hundred shipments of right-wing extremist and neo-Nazi content [including] books, periodicals, symbols, decorations, films, cassettes, [and] records" were intercepted as they entered Germany.
In November 1981, postal authorities suspended Samisdat's mailing privileges; the government argued that Zundel's anti-Jewish campaign violated criminal prohibitions against using the mails to incite hatred.

Emil Lachout, a man best known for his forgeries, one of which is touted in a Samisdat Verlag video as a valid historical document -- Samisdat is a vehicle used by Zundel to peddle lies for profit.
Lachout has even claimed to have belonged to the Austrian military during a period when Austria had none, suggesting that he has even less regard for the truth than Leuchter does, and that's saying something;
