 Re: Samuel M. Reese
Edwin, H.D. and Samuel Reese, along with Jeremiah Fields [a neighbor of Jacob and Absalom Reese in Pendleton District], were active in the "Union and States Rights Party" in South Carolina; see Greenville Mountaineer, 22 September 1832, p.1; 17 November 1832, p.2; 1 December 1832, pp.
The appearance together in deeds in Forsyth Co., Ga., is what makes me think that Samuel M. and Absalom M. Reese were related (plus the fact that Absalom named his youngest son Samuel].
I'll check my files to see if I have anything else on Samuel M. Reese -- if he appears in the 1830 S.C. census, then it would be interesting to see if there were boys in his household, and if their ages match what is indicated in the 1840 census.
