Though the samurai class is largely decimated, replaced by a modern army, Kenshin is recruited into combat by the Secretary of the Army because of his legendary skill at killing (presumably, the skirmishes in which he's involved are those leading up to the Sino-Japanese war, waged from 1894-1895).

Has anybody seen the Rurouni Kenshin OVA known as Samurai X? I have all 6 episodes on 3 DVDs (trust, betrayal, and reflection) and i think they are sweet.
Actually I think sumurai x is a short version of the TV series, its like a summary of kenshin's life, without including all the fights that kenshin had in the TV series.
One part that was good about that movie was that kenshin was the badest samurai killer ever and that there was alot of action.
