By September 28, Sam Crowther had received his commission as "Commander of the San Angelo Troop of Boy Scouts." It was interesting to note that nowhere in the stories printed in The San Angelo Standard was a troop number mentioned.
The last story recorded in The San Angelo Standard, June 10, 1912, announced that thirty Boy Scouts had left Monday morning on their five mile "hike." All sorts of sports, dear to a boy's heart, were expected to be crowded into a week in camp.

We drove up Friday afternoon and met the organizers for dinner at Miss Hattie's, a former brothel (they also have a Bordello Museum), in the lovely, restored old downtown (Good food, great company, wonderful atmosphere).
Our hostess was terrific and gave us an overview of, and insights into, her experiences as a teacher in the area, as well as being a great tour guide and San Angelo booster.

The case was moved from Nocona, 90 miles northwest of Dallas, to this West Texas town because of publicity surrounding the deaths.

Later the name was changed by the post office to it's present day version San Angleo.

Last Wednesday I rode to San Angelo to meet with a friend and colleague.
With everyone gathered, we sat for a few minutes, discussing what we’d learned over the interim period, then headed for the field site to walk it and make some decisions about where we could put a variety of field equipment.
I saw turkeys, vultures (as usual), a number of different lizards, including a great Texas horned lizard, fish in the water, a few quail, a cottontail, and a jackrabbit.
