 What's The Deal With San Antonio's RiverWalk?
I mean, if you are in a wheelchair, or have difficulty walking, or climbing stairs, then visiting the famous San Antonio, Texas tourist attraction known as "The River Walk" will get you steamed.
Judy is a wheelchair user, and recently I met with her, Jim Hurd, Superintendent of River Operations, and David Anthony Richelieu, Columnist for the San Antonio Express-News.
The River Walk is over 21 blocks long, but there are only five ramps, and five elevators going to street level, and most are on one side of the river.

Wednesday, 21 July 2004, was a bright, sunny day in San Antonio where horticulturists and city officials gathered for the official dedication of River Walk as a Horticultural Landmark of the American Society for Horticultural Science.
Although many have been involved in development of the site, two names are particularly noteworthy: The leadership of former mayor Jack White was instrumental in passage of a bond issue that raised funds to empower the 1938 “San Antonio River Beautification Project”, which began the evolution of the site into the present 2.5-mile-long River Walk.
