The collapse of the San Diego team, combined with the failures of the Baltimore and Utah franchises, reduced the ABA to seven franchises, and effectively signed the league's death warrant.
In 1978, the NBA's Buffalo Braves arrived in San Diego and became the Clippers; in 1984, they moved to Los Angeles to attempt to compete with the already-established Lakers.

Different sail, and tuning set ups may have sweet spots at different wind velocities or surface conditions, but it would be very risky to expose your self to a condition that you are not competitive in.

He won't be able to evaluate shape on the floor, only if the sails look used or not.
Depending on how much of a deal you think you are getting it my advice would be to have the person get someone from the loft to go out and take pictures of the sails while rigged that way you get a good pic and representation of its actual shape.
Why don't you get the name + sail number, of the boat the sails were on and then maybe you can get feedback from the other racers (crew / competion) as to the conditiom.
