The San Francisco Board of Supervisors is the legislature for San Francisco, California.
As the official name implies, the City and County San Francisco is a consolidated city-county, being simultaneously a charter city and charter county with a consolidated government, a status it has had since 1856.
San Francisco is the only California city with a board of supervisors, which is also the city council.

San Francisco elected officials, who have tangled with the Catholic Church before, issued a blistering statement Tuesday that calls on the Vatican to overturn its edict that children waiting to be adopted should not be placed with gays and lesbians.
The supervisors also singled out Levada: He "is a decidedly unqualified representative of his former home city and of the people of San Francisco and the values they hold dear,'' the resolution stated.
Supervisor Sean Elsbernd, a married Catholic who represents the conservative neighborhoods west of Twin Peaks, said that voting for the resolution was the right thing to do.

San Francisco, CA — On August 16, 2005, the San Francisco Board of Supervisors unanimously passed a resolution in support of Congressional Resolution 367 condemning bigotry, violence and discrimination against Iranian Americans.
Supervisor Ross Mirkarimi, the first American of Iranian heritage to be elected to the San Francisco Board of Supervisors, introduced the resolution in an effort to ensure that Iranian Americans are not further discriminated against in the post-9/11 climate.

On October 18th, Supervisor Ross Mirkarimi's bill regulating Medical Cannabis Dispensaries (MCD's) was debated before the San Francisco Board of Supervisors.
