Why San Francisco's Muni Wireless is Years Away
But San Francisco is nowhere near deploying a wireless network, and the agreements the city made with Google and EarthLink Municipal Networks appear to be dead in all but name.
San Francisco, by contrast is now in its third year or debating its approach, and the supervisors want to restart the discussions from the beginning," McGoldrick says, rather than try to fix what he considers a fatally flawed approach.
San Francisco’s current proposal focuses on delivering paid wireless Internet service with a lower-tier free service meant mainly for the poor, similar to how cable and telephone charters are set up in most cities.

Today even a strike at a number of relatively large workplaces located relatively close to each other, like the recent San Francisco hotel strike, is now easily isolated by employers, acting in tandem with their loyal business partners, the unions, and aided significantly by the general absence of working class solidarity and collective class consciousness.
The Muni Fare Strike group was openly and honestly antagonistic to voicing any wider critique of life under capitalism as it might emerge in the context of a city-wide fare strike.
Muni Fare Strike was loyal to a script written for it by many decades of leftist irrelevance to the vast majority of US working people.

Philadelphia Trolley Tracks: San Francisco PCCs
San Francisco's Municipal Railway, or Muni, bought a fleet of our trolleys at the bargain basement price of $12,000 each, and had them completely rebuilt at a cost of about $460,000 apiece.
Ironically, I was in San Francisco on June 15, and had to explain that not only has SEPTA scrapped and sold hundreds of trolleys in recent years, but that very day was the final day of service for the last two PCCs still in use in our fair city, in Chestnut Hill.
San Francisco's experience has shown that our old PCC trolleys are still a viable way to move passengers, not just a nostalgic curiosity.

San Francisco Muni Is Running Late | Planetizen
A recent report has revealed some shortcomings of San Francisco's Municipal Railway system: Muni busses and railcars arrive on schedule only 70%of the time.
The issue is underlined by a 1999 measure that sought an on-time percentage of 85% by 2004.
The main reason they don't run on schedule: congested streets that slow buses and trains, and a shortage of drivers, which means that some runs are missed altogether.
