The San Gabriel Valley is a large sub-region in the northeast portion of the Los Angeles urbanized area, and is home to roughly one-fifth of the county’s population and workforce.
The Valley is bounded on the east by the San Bernardino county line, on the north by the Angeles National Forest, on the south by Highway 60, and on the west by the Los Angeles City and Glendale municipal boundaries.
The commuting patterns confirm that the San Gabriel Valley is economically integrated with the Los Angeles metro area, and secondarily with the Riverside-San Bernardino metro area.

The WQA was created by the State to address the problem of groundwater contamination in the San Gabriel Valley, in part by coordinating the plans and activities of state and federal agencies and others involved in the cleanup.
The WQA recognizes that groundwater contamination issues in the San Gabriel Basin are complex and the U.S EPA Superfund response alone may not adequately address the environmental, regulatory and financial issues that affect the one million residents and the many thousands of businesses who rely primarily on the San Gabriel Basin for potable water.
Three Valleys Municipal Water District is serving as its representative board member of the San Gabriel Basin Water Quality Authority (WQA) and currently is a member of the Administrative/Finance Committee.
