		Today, as we officially open Runway 30 Right at San Jose International Airport, we are celebrating the first new commercial runway completed this year in the United States.
		The airport’s improvement program, which also calls for the extension of Runway 30 Left, construction of a new passenger terminal, and a major air cargo facility, is financed in part through more than $80 million dollars in grants from the FAA Airport Improvement Program and passenger facility charge revenue.
		And so, it is especially gratifying now to have the pleasure of recognizing San Jose International Airport as the site of the first concrete poured, under my watch as Secretary of Transportation, in response to the demand for increased capacity in our nation’s aviation system.

	San Jose studying building heights vs. airport flights issue - Silicon Valley/San Jose Business Journal:
		The city of San Jose is spending $150,000 on a study to determine how existing and future downtown high-rise developments could impede airline traffic at Mineta San Jose International Airport, but a county commission says it already knows the answer.
		The San Jose city council commissioned the study in January after it was determined last fall that at least three downtown San Jose buildings are not listed on federal National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration maps widely used by airlines when determining takeoff and landing safety procedures.
		Mineta San Jose International officials were not able to comment in detail on the study being conducted by San Francisco-based Ricondo and Associates.
