The issue was brought to Roquero’s attention by San Jose del Monte residents, barangay officials and the Dumagats during the last years of his mayoralty.
In the meantime, after undergoing arms training in January from the San Jose del Monte police, the Dumagats are bent on putting up more outposts in their area to secure their territory and stop the abductions.

The June 6 meeting, as well as the one on May 30, was called by Supt. Eduardo Octaviano Jr., San Jose del Monte chief of police, in an attempt to resolve the conflict between the two groups of farmers and ease the tension it had generated in the area.

CAMP ALEJO SANTOS, Bulacan: A communist New People’s Army (NPA) rebel and a policeman were killed in what the police said was the longest gun battle between government and rebel troops on the outskirts of the City of San Jose Del Monte on Wednesday.
The initial volley of gunfire led the rebels to flee to a residential area in Barangay Santo Niño in San Jose Del Monte City.
The captured rebels were reportedly being held at the San Jose Del Monte City Jail, raising fears among residents and officials who said: “What if their comrades come back and try to rescue them at night, they might burn the whole municipal hall.”
